This is another in my collection of Anna's Hummingbird images. This time I was able to catch this juvenile in the midst of practicing singing in expectation of next spring's breeding activity.

20D, 300/4L IS + 1.4x, exposure information not at hand at the moment.

It looks like nice focus on the subject and a pleasant blur in the background. A great moment with the beak open.

A very unique image Geoff. I love the pose and exposure. Also a great BG and composition on your part, well done!

The background and open beak really make this one.

Nice work on the technical elements and capturing an interesting moment of behavior.

This is a very nice capture as the other have mentioned. Avian photography isn't my thing, but every once in a while, a shot like this one grabs my interest. Really impressive focus to catch this tiny bird sitting still.
My only comments are that the background could use some noise reduction (perhaps just web conversion did this), and there is a slightly cool tone to the image that could use some warming up. The white feathers look a little blueish here.

Nice 'action' shot, and what everyone else said!

Great comments everyone. Thank you.

Chris - I agree with your suggestions for more aggressive noise reduction in the background and a need for a slightly warmer color balance to the image. I've reworked the photo which, if you're interested, can be viewed via this link:

Reworked Image

I do think the result is better than the original.
