Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good location to shoot Longs Peak? I drive into Boulder every morning and Longs Peak always catches my eye. Yet I've never attempted to take photos of it. I know half the fun is wondering around trying to find a good location and coming across other great shots in the process but does anyone have any spots they like to shoot Longs Peak from?
Thanks
Kurt

Try this link. http://imagesofrmnp.com/gallery.php?gallery=longspeak. Here you will find a few different views of Longs Peak. If you open up any of the larger images it should say on the page where I took them from. There are hundreds of possible locations to shoot this peak from.

Looks like Erik has covered just about every possible angle.

A morning jog up the Twin Sisters trail is great. I've never been lucky enough to get some clouds in the East. Looking at the sky this morning, I sure wish I'd been on that trail.

I'm sure Erik has provided a host of options, but I have a different one.

I used to shoot it from the pond at Crown Hill Park in Lakewood near my home. You'll want a long lens for this shot. I used a 300mm on the Rebel XT, which is roughly equivalent to 480mm on full frame.

Start at Moraine Park and drive up Trail Ridge Road (as far as you can this time of year). Bring telephotos up to 400mm, if your setup covers that focal length. It's a great place to start.

You could try this angle requires a little walking though. It is not in Eriks collection.

Thanks for the ideas guys, what about some spots along the front range?

Hey Eric, I see one angle you haven't tried yet. The Hubble Telescope view

Wow Erik, got that peak covered I'd say.

Nice work as always!

Jody, that one is on my list. Though I doubt I could do better than yours, which is terrific! I was actually talking about doing Meeker on Friday but I have a couple of other areas I'm also thinking about. We'll see what the weather says tomorrow.

If you are driving into Boulder, one of my favorite places to stop and get the sunlight as it hits Longs is that overlook on top of the hill above Boulder heading westbound on 36. Everytime I head up that way I always find myself having to stop there lol
