A Common Darter taken early in the morning after overnight rain. This was from a quick session before work the other day to give my new 40D a bit of a test. I'm very pleased with it so far and found the live view very handy for composing a static shot such as this.
Canon 40D with Sigma 150mm lens.
f14, 1/20, ISO 400, tripod, MLU, remote release.
All C+C appreciated.

Nice image Matt - I like the dew on the wings, and the BG is nice too
If you get the opportunity, try a 180, you'd be amazed the difference in BG and working distance that extra 30mm makes.
For me, a tiny bit of CW rotation to get the reed stem vertical would be my only alteration.

thanks Andy, and good point re. the CW rotation.
I've never had the chance to use a 180 although I do on occasions use a 1.4 converter on the 150. As you say, it does help backgrounds although I can always see a slight drop in quality with the converter so now prefer not to use it. The 180 would obviously be a better option.
