My new role as moderator of the 'Weekly Challenge' Gallery gave me a good excuse to visit the CM Zoo today, my first visit. Had a great time, even got to feed a hippo. My favs were the Grizzlies, i could have watched these guys all day! Come visit the WC gallery for a real funny collection of faces, maybe post one of your own

The Meerkats took the prize for funniest mugs.

As i was leaving, spotted this wild red fox sneaking in the zoo (to check out the bird exhibits!) This is my Dan-Walters-wannabe attempt. According to the staff, occasionally bear and mountain lions find there way to the zoo! Too cool...will have to come back.

All of these are excellent, with special props for the bear shot.
I haven't been to a zoo since I was a kid, and had no idea that there was one this (relatively) close.

Thanks, John. I used to live just up the street from the Seattle Zoo, but i havent been to one since moving from there 6 years ago. I have mixed feelings about zoos, but i was impressed by what i saw here, and i certainly felt like a kid walking through it.

the Meerkat seems to be giving you that "You take that picture of me and you are toast" look

Yeah, that grizzly shot is awesome. Was that shot though glass? The fox was a nice bonus as well. Back when I lived in Mpls, the zoo was always the first place I'd go when I got some new telephoto glass. They are a great place to test out lenses without having to wait for wildlife opportunities.

I was expecting to see a picture of my place of work...
Excellent shots all around. The bear shot is particularly nice, and I love the expression on the fox. I see some water smears on the glass in the bear shot though; next time, just hop over and squeegee that thing off first!

Nice Job, Stan...
I'm a member at that zoo, but don't go there nearly as often as I should! I need to get back up there!

Thanks folks. Rick, ya had to spoil it by mentioning the water smudges
Yeah, next time i gonna show up early before they get the whole pane of glass all covered in water. But i certainly would have been wiling to shoot them from the inside if the keepers had let me!

Very nice shots Stan. I think Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is one of the nicest I have been to in the world.

Nice images! Like the expression on the meerkat. Really like the color and the light in the red fox image.
