Canon 1D Mark III
Canon 24-70mm F/2.8 @ 42mm
HDR Blend using Photomatix Pro
Hi folks, Here is another HDR blend. This was taken at 8:40am along the Skyline Trail in Mount Rainier Nat Park. There was no way I could capture all this dynamic range in one frame!!
So lemme know what yall think of this one please.
Thanks!!

Dang, Rick, for a full on bright sun shot, this is rather nice!

What Mark said. I like the comp, especially the way the trail leads you in.

Some shadows are much darker than others, which gives away the HDR for me immediately (see the bushes at middle-right vs. the bushes at lower left, among other shadow differences), but it's something you can fix with a careful eye. I think this could have been captured in as little as two frames, and perhaps with only a low-opacity manual blend for the cloud near the sun with, resulting in a more natural feel IMO. I shot a scene just as contrasty in full mid-day sun last week with a single frame and posted it on PNWNP, and you'll see it's definitely possible. I'm just throwing this out there as food for thought. Every time I see "HDR" a title, I expect the worst, but this is far from it. One of the better renditions I've seen with this technique.
