Here's another shot of Mt. McKinley. This time in the evening from the bus window as we drove through the park looking for critters.

Must have been an awesome trip Eric! I've gotta do that one someday. I kinda wish for more of the hill at the bottom, but this is pretty nice as is.

Eric, I hear summer for Alaska never happened. Great shot! Good for you. I like that mid-band of bluish tinted mtns. The blues give me a sense of the distances. I would like to see a bit more of that yellow foreground...tough to get in a bus. There is much to enjoy with the clouds interwoven in Mt McKinley. Ken S

yeah, that would be an awesome print. Nice layering of the colors through the image in the way you composed it.

Eric,
What you captured in that image is a feeling of magnificence. I am completely awestruck by these beautiful mountains. It isn't often where an image makes me feel that, so I tip my hat off to you. I like how you can see a little bit through the clouds, as the cloud cover acts as a veil of something amazing that we want to see.
While I have seen lots of incredible image, none have made me think as strongly as your has of "maybe I should go up there."
I hope my post isn't too over the top, but that's just what I think.
Love it...great capture from that infernal bus window! I was on the bus myself 2 weeks ago...forgive the rant, but while critters are great, I don't understand why the passengers and even the drivers (at least on the buses I was on!) are almost indifferent to the scenic splendor that is Denali...we'd stopped for pretty much every critter on the way, even a supposed wolf so far away it was a barely discernible grey dot on the landscape...but we hardly stopped to see McKinley itself, which we were fortunate enough to have out in the open!

Yeah, our bus stopped for all the critters as well. Even a tiny little Pika (4" long) that was about 50 feet down the embankment. I just had to bite my lip and shoot what I could shoot and sigh at the missed opportunities.
Our bus driver was so involved with that little Pika it gave me more time to shoot some landscapes and abstracts from the window.
