House Sparrow.
More to illustrate a story than a picture. We have had a colony of house sparrows around the place for many years. They nest in the many types of boxes including a miniature Dove Cote type one.
This year all the young from one box had varying degrees of white feathers. There were several broods. There were about 15 all together.
Interestingly, none of these birds could fly very well(genetic problem) and so most have been predated. They stand out well too !
There's about two left and this is one of them.

Never seen such a 'bulls eye' for a sparrowhawk before John - unique subject and interesting post

Nice John, a pretty bird with the white, looks like possible inbreeding? Shame they are getting munched on, but i suppose thats nature. Shame the BG is a bit busy else it would be a nice shot.

Hi John,
I think it's a good shot. We have lot of them over here but none with so much white as yours.
I'm always surprised by the variety of pictures you post. I'm almost gonna think you live in a zoo.
Again a good photograph (as always).

Very interesting shot - I've never seen a sparrow like that before!

Interesting looking fellow. I'm not surprised they didn't last too long though!

House sparrows are now as rare as hen's teeth where I live, 20 years ago you couldn't move for them. How times change. Nice image of an unusual subject.
