Trempealeau River in autumn
Here is a view along the Trempealeau River last fall.

Great river valley with lots of image potential, worth exploring for those along the upper Mississippi.

Rebel XTi with my cheapo Sigma 55-200.

Very nice color; I'd nip off the URC to eliminate the small bit of sky. This certainly does look like a site with lots of possibilities.

River valleys are always good places to explore with a camera, Darren...the colorful hills, fall reflections. Looking forward to seeing what you get this year.

Beautiful area. Hope to make it down there this year.

Good representation of this area Darren. Any idea of where "peak" color usually falls for this area? I'd guess maybe the first week of October? Thanks for sharing this, I need to get down there this year!

I agree with Kerry about cropping the top to exclude the patch of sky. I'd also consider cropping half of the foreground weeds since they're slightly out of focus.

I think that early to mid October seems to be the peak in the LaCrosse area. Well worth getting down there for a day or the weekend. In my business travels I got a chance to explore from Red Wing to Prairie du Chien on both sides of the river and I think I liked the area around Perrot State Park the best. Several good trails to walk. Views of the bluffs and from the bluffs. Not very many people either.

Ok, now that upper right corner bothers me too. I guess it has to go. The bottom does not bother me as I think of it as framing.
