Steeple Shadow
Tentatively-titled view of the Steeple and East Temple Peak in the Wind Rivers. The contrast of the shadow (from a massive off-frame cloud) and the smaller line of clouds over the ridge was a great reason to pull out my tripod during a dayhike near Deep Lake.

1dsIII + Zeiss 18mm

Comments welcome!

Great image! Like the clouds and the shadow right in the middle of the image.

Nice detail and the contrast with the shadow sets it off.
Was this polarized or are the dark upper corners due to fall-off?

I have mixed feelings. I like the balance, light, clarity, but it doesnt move me the way most of your photos do. Could be the toning, which makes it look metallic to me, or could be that i dont have a strong sense of the vast scale here (due to limited fg?)

I'm sure the full size image is amazing, but I agree with Stan on the impact of the image. It doesn't have the strength of your other images.

I like it!

Thanks more commenting. It's definitely more enjoyable as a big print.

No polarization Kalin. The upper edge is intentionally darkened upon conversion. The split toning here actually really enhances this image. The original features little separation between the shadowed peak and blue sky. But choosing a split-tone transition point halfway up the sky, the tone colors created more gradation in the sky - and the appearance of polarization. Really makes the clouds pop. I don't see any falloff in the corners on my monitor (or in print), but I'm sure some is there.
