Fall in the air...
The temperatures really cooled off today, as a cold front pushed through the area, along with Ike. Tea Kettle was up again, and though I was a little late in getting there, the flow was still quite nice. This shot was taken about 4:00 this afternoon - I can only imagine what it must have looked like this morning. It's probably a good thing I was late, as I'm sure the water would have been to high to cross.

It was a pleasant surprise to see this hard maple already turning, but some of the color may have been stress-related since it is rooted in the creek bed and there has been so much water this summer.

Unique take on the subject. The sunlight works for you here, back lighting those maple leaves and making streaks in the lower part of the falls.

Another problem you might have had earlier is wind, but it looks like it had calmed down enough by the time you were taking this shot. Now if we could only keep getting this kind of rain now and then without it having to come from a hurricane. Gustav and Ike were pretty nice to us here in Arkansas, but not so nice to Texas and Louisiana.

Great control of the light Bill. It's always nice to catch the seasons in transition and even though it may be early by the calendar, you still get that feeling of transition with this image. Love the earth tones in the fg too!

Great shot Bill, I really like this angle. I have also noticed trees starting to show some signs of fall in the Fort Smith area. Maybe fall will be early this year?

Wonderful portrait of Tea Kettle in conditions where other photographers might have just given up or not even tried. The splashes of sunlight in the foreground are a nice touch too.

Great job Bill. I've seen this place before earlier in the year from you I believe. The turning of the colors are great, I really like this.

Excellent Rule of Thirds composition.

Nice light and color. I am ready for fall too, so nice to see a pek of it.
