ruttin moose
I was up in Alaska, Denali area this past week. I must say that the colors up there were just breathtaking. just starting to go through some images, so i may have some more to share in the next few days. The moose in the park were "rutting" which means they would dig a trench in the ground and urinate into it to attract females. This particular guy must have had some pretty smelly stuff because there were three cows (female version i believe) walking around him.

iso 1250, f5.3
It was very overcast the whole trip (understatement). had to shoot some higher iso's than expected

Nice one Rylan, I didn't see any Bull Moose when I was up there a couple of weeks ago. Just a bunch of cows. The colors were really great! Did you get to see the mountain or ws it socked in?

Whew-wee! Dang, that's a fine Moose shot. One of the best I've seen as well. I might try to tone down the antlers a bit and maybe just bring out the face and coat a tad more. Very minor though, and just my opinion. I absolutely love the surroundings. This has Alaska in Autumn written all over it!

Wow! I agree, a magnificent shot of the moose in his environment-- both gorgeous. Dang!

thanks for the flattering comments.

Eric- unfortunately no, the mountain was in a very shy spirit. I was able to glimpse the peaks for a few minutes once, Actually thought that they were clouds at first. took my breath away when i realized what it was though. I really wish i could have been there on a clear day.
