I've had a couple of trips to the local ancient woodland recently and I think it's going to be a good year for Fungi.
This one was just playing around with an all year round species, but there are good signs that the seasonal types are preparing to pop up.

an unusual composition that works quite well for me. I'll also be having a go at some fungi shots in the next few weeks. I'm hoping for some nice bright Autumnal mornings (you can but hope!).
Interesting idea here Ian that I quite like, only thing That could be an improvement (I have no idea if it could have been possible) would be for a more diffuse bg.

I like the idea of the two out of focus brackets framing the in focus one, however this particular shot doesn't really work for me if I'm honest. I think the main reason being the uppermost bracket is just too dominant and out of focus and tends to catch the eye more than the main focal point. Being such a pale colour doesn't help in this regard either.
I think that if upper and lower brackets were thrown out of focus by a similar amount and the background area was a little less distracting then it'd perhaps work a lot better.

Thanks for the comments Guys. I wasn't sure about it either, but thought I'd give it a try. Just goes to prove I make better coffee than take photographs!!
