 Brunnich guillemot colony
There is a Seabird Colony called Alkefjellet in Svalbard and to be honest it blew me away as it is huge with over 120,000 Guillemots nesting and the sight, sound and smell is truly amazing. Again this image is taken at about 1 o'clock in the morning as the light is at its best during the night. I have much closer images but was drawn to the shapes and patterns the birds were forming on the Basalt cliffs.

Hi Danny,

I think this is a cracking shot. The diminutive size of the birds really emphasizes the huge cliff face and the sheer grandeur of the scene. The golden tones are beautiful and I like how the fissure kind of splits the image into a scene of two halves.

Works well for me sunshine :wavey:

Did you do this in portrait format too - would like to see it if you did.

Danny, I think this will look much better larger, as the birds are just too small in this web version to be appreciated. Love the warm golden feel of this one.

Super image with wonderful light and repeating patterns. To my eyes, the image looks better if I cover up the dark rocks on the right edge, so I would crop an inch or so from the right.
