Hello folks,

I was wondering if someone can let me know how to get to the iconic "Sacred Kiva" in the Grand Staircase Escalante area? Is it a sunrise or sunset location for great light? What time of year is best to photograph? Any info would be much appreciated, thanks!

I know there's the Coombs site located behind the Anasazi Museum in Boulder, Utah. But I haven't heard of anything called the Sacred Kiva.

Are you thinking of False Kiva in Canyonlands?

Or maybe Perfect Kiva?

I'm referring to the location Michael Anderson captured here: http://lightscapephoto.com/

Yep, that's False Kiva in Canyonlands. Check Laurent Martres' book "Photographing the Southwest".

'Photographing the Southwest-Vol.1-Southeast Utah'

The park rangers at Canyonlands (Island in the Sky district) will provide directions if you ask them.
