Otter
1DIIn, 500/4 + 1.4, tripod, 1/400 f6.3, iso 400

Its been a while since I have had anything worth posting here, but a trip up to Mull last week proved reasonably fruitful. On previous attempts the closest I got was about 200m, so it was a bit of a surprise to be over lensed. I'm not quite sure what to do with the crop here - this is nearly the whole frame with just a bit taken off the top and left.

Leave it as is Gary it looks rather good to me. I would be happy with it anyway. :toast:

Agree with Major and leave it, It's a fine image. I really like the head turn and the eye contact. :toast:

I like this very much - a splendid composition.

Ver nice indeed. Composition works great for me as presented but another option which I feel would work well is cropping a little more off of the top, just enough to loose most of the lighter areas at the edge of the frame. :toast:

Great shot Gary, and I would put the bit back on the left and take some of the right. Onlyb a tad mind.

I like it a lot just as it is, but I would try cropping it just too the right of the mane if it were mine as there is not much happening in the rh third of the image. Bags of interesting detail in the bladderwrack and the otters face is wonderful. It would also put his face to the right looking 'into' the picture. I must admit I tend to have to try the options out before I decide on which I like best.

Hi Gary,

Good to see the patience paid off - guessing this was Thurs or Fri!!

It's a fine shot (these are hard work I know   ). For me I'd crop from the righty and put back the space on the left - would have been different if all the rear end was in the pic, but I think this will balance the focus and take my eye away from the slightly cropped backside.

Still a nice image - bet there's more too!
