Still trying to get a decent Kingfisher shot. The twig he chose was much nearer than usual - but sadly it was a grey old day. C C welcome

I really like the upright and stretched out pose here. Nice composition and I also like the inclusion of the lily pad in the background, which adds another dimension and an extra element of interest.
Personally I find the grey, overcast conditions work great for Kingfishers, helps prevent the white area from burning out too easily.

Boringly I too like the composition and the lily pad :)
I like it Kim. The stretched pose is great, it givesemphasis to the streamlined shape. So often they seem to be hunched up.

The overcast conditions do help in keeping those whites under control.nice image

Love the general pose and comp on this one Kim.
Maybe my monitor but the white patch seems to be lacking detail. never easy with these though.

Like the pose on this one Kim and nice comp too. i think that the lily pad is a definite bonus as well.
You take what you are given in this country weather-wise, so you have done well with this. I find that over-exposing and then darkening down in photoshop can help reduce the noise a little bit on days like this, but in this case, I don't think the white cheeks would have stood it.
Nicely done. Eric

Very nice pose and overcast conditions makes exposuring these birds a bit easier.
