Hi everyone,
I'm going to be heading down to the Bishop area for fall this year - Sep 26 to Oct 4, though I'm trying to extend it to the 7th or 8th. I know the area fairly well from a trip a few years back where I met up with Preston, Cory, Michael G. But I never got to explore the Owens Valley. I was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction or suggest some roads to explore? If you prefer not to, no worries. Or if emailing suggestions is better, that'd be great as well.
Sounds like there might be a small gathering near Lee Vining. I'll keep an eye on the forum and hopefully can meet up with some of you. I'll be driving a gold Tundra (with topper) with Oregon plates, mostly camping wherever I can find a quiet place to park; may end up in the Four Jeffrey campground for a night or two.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions; hope to see some of you out there!

I sent you an email too. Whatever Preston said about me in his email, it isn't true.

Preston and Harley,
is it possible for you guys to post here in the forum. I am also interested in those areas and if you prefer email, then that's fine too I would probably be there from 4th-11th Oct. I fear its not too late for the fall since that's the only time I can take some break from work whatever I read here seems like you guys will be around the week before, so the chances of meeting are meek but if you guys linger around then it will definitely be a pleasure to meet you folks.
Hi Rick: my advice would be to pick up the AAA road map for Inyo and Mono Counties, and head wherever the map and your curiosity leads you. You really can't go wrong no matter where you go.

I've been toying with the idea of squeezing in another Sierra backpacking trip in late Sept early Oct to the Minarets region. If I did, I was also thinking about setting aside a day/afternoon to photograph some of the fall colors along the 395. Not sure where though... I was just going to play it by ear. I just went through the Four Jeffrey campground a couple of weeks back and the colors hadn't really started yet. I look forward to following this thread for ideas and possible gatherings.
I, too, will be in the eastern sector from Oct 3 for about a week. Doing the typical color chasing in the canyons, and a possible visit up to the Whites. I'm starting north (Lundy, Dunderberg, etc) and heading towards Alabama Hills. I've got a fairly noticeable Sportsmobile 4WD van that is metallic tan. C U there.
