Rolling water, solid log
I was in Manhattan last weekend, so I ran out to Pillsbury Crossing on Sunday morning, under fairly gloomy skies. Pillsbury Crossing is a natural stone ford, and even with the heavy rains, the water was only running a few inches deep at the ford. This log was resting on a higher point, and it wasn't until I got close to try a different perspective that the current changed enough to float the log away. Something about the solidness of the log in the rushing waters is what drew my attention. 30D, f/11, ISO 100, 1/15, cropped. C&C always welcome and appreciated, thanks for looking.

The water may have been only a few inches deep but on the couple of occassions that I've been there it sure wasn't moving this fast. I really like the coloration of the log in this shot, it really contrasts with the water. Nice eye on this one!

Hi Rob,

I think it's always interesting how certain things draw ones attention when out with camera in hand. We had lots of rain last week so I bet the water at Pilsbury Crossing was moving quite well. I would be interested in seeing what a somewhat slower shutter speed would have done, maybe soften the water up a little. You done well and I'm sure it was fun being there.

The water was running nicely that morning :). Brad, I only took a couple slower shots and there wasn't much difference. I was limited on how slow I could go and still not over expose.
