Back again - Kebler meeting for RMNP next weekend?
Hey guys/gals. I just got back from Italy, Croatia and Austria Sunday night and am anxiously awaiting my 152 sheets of 4x5 and 54 sheets of B/W. The 4x5 seemed a lot heavier this time (even though i have now lost a total of 60 pounds). The weight loss and physical training really paid off.

I am hoping to get out and go shooting next weekend around Kebler and was wondering if anybody else wanted to do an RMNP meeting like we have done in the past.

This is a shot Veronica took of me shooting Corniglia in Cinque Terre, Italy.

Great to hear from you Rich. I'd like to meet up but have obligations in Breck that weekend.

I was just planning my trip for that weekend, so I would be up for a meetup.

Really - Too early? Last year this coming weekend was right for Bells and i thought Kebler/Mclure came the week after? Or are we a little off this year?

From my obsevations last Saturday, I would say too early. Slight changing high above Twin Lakes, and nothing south of Hwy. 50 to Sand Dunes.

Was that you I saw in Italy? Didn't recognize you - glad to hear your hard work and dedication paid off and would love to see some images.

I drove Kebler Pass road last Sunday, 9/14. A slight hint of color here and there, but at least 95% of aspens were still solidly green. Some color in the ferns, but not as much as I'd hoped for. Same thing at McClure Pass. With the warm weather this week, I would think that 9/20 will be too early for good color in those areas.

I did see some color along the road between Aspen and Ashcroft, and on up to Taylor Pass.

BTW Rich, congrats on the 'new image'! :toast:

Too early! Kebler Pass is usually at peak from Sept 29-Oct 4.

Sounds like the weekend of 10/3 - 10/5 is what is being stated versus 9/26-9/28 as Richard suggested in the OP.

If you change it to the following weekend or to earliest October I will be down there

Wowza Rich. Anyone that says you're not half the man you used to be is wrong!! Congratulations. I'm looking at the weekend of 26-28 but still haven't decided if I'm going to Kebler or if I'm heading south to the LaVeta pass area. I can't leave the homestead this weekend which, in light of the late turn on the leaves, might not be all bad.

BTW, anyone that's shot aspens in the LaVeta pass area in the past, I'd really like to know how it worked out for you. I came through there on the way home from Taos in July and there was some pretty promising looking stuff.

FWIW I've got reservations in CB for the weekend of 10/3-5. It'd be great to put some faces to the names I see here.

I'm planning on Kebler for the weekend of the 27-28th -- unless something else looks more promising...

William,
There are some really nice tall aspens there and on Cuchara Pass. Just take the highway of legends. Some great stuff. I was through there last Saturday, and everything I saw at that time was deep green still.

Just FYI for anyone, I'll be in the Dunckley pass area next week driving my Gov't rig (yes, I'll be working during the day - really.)
I'll likely be in the Ridgeway/Silverjack area the weekend of the 27th with daughter in tow carrying her camera (very cool). I'll be driving the 4 door, white f-250 that some of you have seen.
And I'll be in the Kebler/McClure area for a few days during the following week taking some time off from work.
This is the first fall in several years that I'm actually dedicating several days to fall shooting. I'll just be happy to be out, let alone taking photos.
