Bowlingball Beach, Northern, CA.

This sandstone fin had several of these lighter colored boulders imbedded in it. I thought this one looked somewhat like an eye peering out of the surrounding stone.

Preston, the eye is cool but the orange color seems over the edge to me, too strong.

Preston, the composition and name fits perfectly. I also like the strong mosaic abstract look to the scene. A bit hard for me to totally judge the colors overall being so use to the variety of transparencies we all use. And, I truly do not know what to expect from scanned color film per se such as this 160S negative here is only the second scan I have ever seen. Your last 160S was pretty much all cool colors and this has leap out at ya much stronger colors to it. I guess a really good test would be to shoot a tranny and the film to see what they look like only seconds a part in a given scene. I did that with Astia, Provia, and Velvia 100 one time, WOW, what a difference in the three.

Hey Preston,

I love the subject matter and the "eye" is quite apparent and makes for a great focal point. My only criticism is the brightness. I just seems a little hot to me. Like Paul, I don't know that I would be able to evaluate a negative, but in my view, I think you could drop a good 1/2 stop on this.

The first thing I noticed was that cool eye feature surrounded by all those wonderful colors. I too first thought it might be a tad on the bright side, but the more I look at it I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it's just the ratio of bright rock to the darker areas that gives me that feeling. Then I thought maybe a slight crop would minimize those brighter areas, but I just can't see any crop that really improves on this presentation. Well seen!

Wow Preston, this is an excellent beach abstract. you need an eye to spot this. I am sure this will look far far better in large prints. these small compressed jpegs just kills all those details.

I first thought that this was Anil's. I pretty much agree with Lon. I find it way too bright. I'd like the contrast brought down a bit and the top left darkened a bit. Shape and color wise, it looks pretty interesting, it's just to hot to look at for any period of time.
