For those heading up to RMNP this weekend, I can confirm everything Erik said in his great post earlier. The color is getting started in the aspen up there. This was the Bear Lake stand early this morning. I would say the stand is about 65-75% changed, as you can see there is still a little green in there. Should be good this weekend, even better early next week if the wind doesn't get to the leaves.
Clouds in the east prevented some nice sunrise light, however Longs looked really cool after a coating of snow last night and the lake was relatively calm. I quickly edited this on a laptop and posted for an update on conditions.

Wow, those colors have really taken off since I was there last Saturday! I may have to get back up there again this weekend...

Nice photo, Joshua! I was down on the shoreline taking photos of the reflection in the lake of the aspen stand that you took this from. Is this you? I found you in all 8 of my photos! This is a 100% crop from one of my reflection shots. I didn't notice you until I brought the photos up on my computer. Guess I'll have to go back up there and hope for another calm morning. There were a lot of people out there this morning and everywhere I pointed my camera I found at least one other photog. Oh well, maybe photoshop will come to the rescue. If this was you, thank you for not wearing bright, irridescent colors.

Beautiful autumn mountain shot. Starting to see some changes here in Utah also.

Anyone know which trail this shot was taken from? Thanks

Thanks for sharing the images. I was hoping to get up there this weekend, but it may be Mon or more likely Wed morning instead.
Will, if I were to guess this appears to be along the trail to Flattop Mountain, but it could also be in the rocks on the north side of the lake.

Nice shot, Joshua! How funny - I was just working on my shots from today and I think I got a few of you as well!
I was surprised by how much color there was already. It was a fun day, to be sure!

Beautiful image! Like how the soft light really brings out the colors.

Wow, funny. That is definitely me in Don's photo, (yes, good thing I wasn't wearing an orange hunting jacket!). In fact, that has to be the exact same rock I was standing on when I took the photo I posted above (and it wasn't always easy to keep balance on it when grabbing equipment from the camera bag!)
To answer your question Will, this was from the trail that goes around Bear Lake, on the north side of the lake, but a little off trail in the boulders. Be extremely careful walking on the rocks if you choose to find a similar vantage point.

That's a beauty, Joshua. I really like the combination of yellows in greens in the shot.

That's becoming quite the iconic spot - absolutely beautiful, Joshua! Great comp, and the snow adds a lot to the impact of the upper portion.
