Fall's Arrival
Just got back from Annadel SP. The trees are beginning to show the beauty of fall, and after a fresh rainfall, the grass fields surrendered to the weight of the water. I got to the park a little late today, but will be returning tomorrow morning. I really want to get a shot with the golden grass intertwined between the oak leaves.

What do you guys think of this shot? I need some honest, first reaction type feedback so that I can get a better shot tomorrow or Sunday.

Thanks,
Canon 30D, Sigma 17-70mm

Ben,

This is fabulous - right up my alley! The detail and clarity are excellent and the dew/rain on the leaves really takes this over the top. I also see that you have a bit of a 4:5 format... :-)
Whatever it was that you cropped, I think the format/ratio is perfect for this scene. (I'm not biased either) :-) Nice work Ben.

I could look it up, but where is Annadel SP anyway?

Thanks Lon for the input. Do you think it is too chaotic, like maybe it needs some more cohesion? I am thinking of a comp that is slightly more simple maybe..? What type of improvements would you make? Anyways, Annadel SP is 5 mins away from my house in Santa Rosa. Just a really sweet little state park that offers some really nice scenes.

Benjamin, this has that look more of an ending fall sequence to it then early or pre-fall. It would and does make an excellent harvest or Thanksgiving theme look & feel to it for sure. These type of scenes work so well. Not always easy to find and ligthing can be a challenge at times too, but this is wonderful. The water beads are a real plus too.

Beautiful Ben. Not Chaotic at all. I can actually see a nice flow from the lower right corner with a curve towards the lower left, and then taking you all the way to the top right corner. Nice detail. Excellent work!

Making order from chaos is what we do on every photo in my opinion but sometimes less is more. I like the shot.Maybe next time there will be a colorful leaf from an aspen or maple on the ground for some contrast?

Ben,

This is really nice! The image does a great job conveying the feeling of the changing seasons and the raindrops really push this image over the top. Nice work.

This is very nice. Not too chaotic at all. I really like Annadel state park. I love the trees on the hills. Just wish it were closer.

I really like it. i see a nice flow from top left to bottom right and diagonals. Not chaotic at all.

The detail and clarity are excellent. muted tones and their luminosity is what makes the image for me. I didn't find it too chaotic too. very nicely done.

Nice mixture of leaves and needles. I like the way the leaves sweep around and intermix with the diagonally running needles. I particularly like the way the water droplets bead up on the underside of half the leaves. That really adds another wonderful element to this image. Nice work!
