Canon 1D Mark III
Tamron 200-500mm @ 500mm
1/200 sec @ F/8.0 ISO 400
This was taken in Mount Rainier Nat. Park a couple of weeks ago in the Paradise River Valley. Sean Watson and I stopped on the road out from Paradise Lodge after eating breakfast and stood on top of a slope of rockery. The wind was blowing and it was cold but this guy kept watch over the area.
So lemme know what yall think of this one.

I like this one Rick. Love the geometry and texture of the bolder. It makes a great perch for this photogenic fellow. My only nit is that it's dark head is close in tonality to the background, but you did a great job getting the right exposure.

This little guy looks like a captain at the prow of his ship sailing into the wind! It's hard to get personality into small animal shots and I think you did it here. Really enjoyed the photo.
I like it quite a bit. It would be nice if the background was a little lighter to set off his head a little more, but overall it's a good exposure. I love the comp.

Great exposure. Not sure if I agree about the face being too dark as it looks just fine on my laptop. Much better shot than what I took yesterday of one of these critters yesterday at Marmot Pass.
