Little Molas Lake
Spent a long (but pleasurable) day yesterday driving and hiking around the San Juans to do a little autumn location scouting. I crashed for the last hour of the day at Little Molas Lake to see if anything would happen for sunset. It had been a monsoonal day as I was in and out of thunderstorms all afternoon and it was pretty cloudy on the western horizon. Fortunately, the sun briefly peeked out a couple of times yielding me a few shots.

The dark red of the alpenglow really surprised me. Its much more striking when viewed larger, but this gives you an idea.

These are both beautiful shots! Makes me wish I was up in the mountains instead of home working on the house!

Nice spot to crash. I really enjoy the first image as the tall grasses bring you sweeping through the image with that nice curve.

Great composition on the first one, and beautiful lighting on the second. Both are really quite beautiful.

Beautiful scenes!
They almost have a painterly like quality to them.

Things looking 'autumnal' in our neighborhood?

Nice shots Guy; as usual. Don't keep us in suspense, how are the fall colors progressing down your way?

EDIT: I see you updated in the fall colors thread, thanks.

Those are great! I especially like #1. A cloud or two in the ULC look a little odd at the smaller resolution which is a small thing, but thought to mention it for a second look. I'lll be this one would look nice on a wall.

Very nice! # 1 is my favorite.

#1 is really sweet. Nice work with the grasses and comp.

#2 is pretty nice as well. Though a small area of reds in the mountain seem overly saturated.
