Another from the same session as my last post. In this I managed to get out from the edge of the wood and could compose a little better. The appearance of last years calf was a bonus. Having taken on board Andy's comment on my last post about the 'virtual legs' I have allowed a bit more foreground.

Robert, i really like the pose and the space to show off the virtual legs, exposure seems fine as well.... The problem with these kind of images is the critical sharpness (where you have more then just 1 animal/bird in the frame).....unfortunately this is lacking a bit of sharpness, still very nice and well composed

He certainly looks proud doesn't he! I quite like this as a group shot, the pose of the stag is great, but it's a shame that there isn't more of the calf in view as it looks a bit strange as just a head. But, there's not much you could have done about that!

I like the composition, and the out of focus grass at the front adds nice softness and depth.

Hello Rene, I can see what you mean about sharpness in this image. The original is actually very sharp on the stag but seems to have lost a bit in compression.
Hello Dawn, I know what you mean about the calf. I hadn't even seen it at first as it was virtually hidden in the grass as I was shooting across a field with a bit of a rise in it which then fell away again. Just to be awkward, the deer were all just slightly over the brow.
Thanks for the comments.

really like the lighting and foreground here, would like a bit more headroom here though
