Notchtop Glow
Erik's wonderful image of Notchtop from Lake Helene a few days ago motivated me to finally try the location (I had been wanting to for a while). I hiked in this morning and was greeted by rain and wind. It was too windy for reflections (my original intent) so I tried to set up near where Erik took his image. Luckily, the clouds parted for a few minutes and some nice warm light hit the side of Notchtop. Overall was a pretty fun morning. Certainly a beatiful location well worth the hike and lack of sleep. Enjoy (and thanks for the motivation Erik!). Kipp. :wavey:

That is a kick-ass shot. The clouds grazing the summit really add to the mood.

Love the shrouded peaks! They add so much depth to this superlative image.

Great shot. It's amazing how fast the reds in the foreground have disappeared since Erik took his shot. Not that it matters since the atmospherics and glow on and around Notchtop are what carries this image.

oh man, what would I do to take a photo like this

The clouds and light aligned perfectly for your shot. Great job.

I don't know -- it's hard to evaluate the small image on my computer screen. Will you send me a 16x20 matted print, so I can get a better look?

Seriously, this is an awesome capture. In my mind, the clouds and their interplay with the peak really make this photo. Congratulations!

Erik
