Hello all,

As you may have noticed, I haven't been out much this year. Work has been work and home is busy with two kids running around.

This was also my first time out at the Japanese Gardens this year. I read my email the night before and realized that photo member hours were the next morning at 6:30 so I went to sleep as soon as I could. This was taken during the Moonviewing days but also during some of the smokiest skies we've had this summer. Which also means bright red skies in the morning.

So I resisted the usual downtown shot with something I haven't seen yet from the gardens. I've been wanting a shot like this for some time. My only regret is I needed to go with ISO 400 to steady the trees leaving me with more noise than I wanted to.

Anyways, it was a bear to process, and I don't have the HDR thing down yet. This is essentially a single RAW file double processed for sky & foreground to balance everything out.

Let me know what you think of it. It seems darker on this white background than on my screen or my website...and I can't seem to compress this image without halos??? I think I'm rusty:P

Kevin

Stats: Canon 5D, 70-200 f/4 @ 83 mm & f/32, tripod & release, MLU, CPL, 2&3 soft stop grad stacked.

Eric, Jesse - Thanks for your input! Y'know, the more I look at it, the more I want to change it. I'll probably repost this again to compare.

Hey, Jesse, sorry I didn't walk through the crowd & say "Hi". I was on a time crunch to shoot quickly & get back to take my son to kindergarten...
