The Fly, the bubble and the mushroom...
40D, 180/3.5, A327+ BH1
ISO200, 1/125 @f4.5
Diffuser + silver reflector
C1 v4 + resize & sharpen CS3.

Would have liked more DoF here but silly me forgot to stop down after taking some images for stacking

40D is of to Canon Service centre tomorrow, the famous Error 99 shutter failure :frown:

All the best

Phil

Absolutely beautiful Phil. Personally I disagree on the depth of field - I think the shallow focus gives a wonderful dreamy effect and the sharpness is spot on in the most important places. The colours are wonderful. Great image. Tristan

Great bubble blowing action on an excellent perch. DOF just right IMHO, although it would be nice to see stacked version.

beautiful image, like Tristan said very dreamy and too much depth of field might have spoilt that

Gorgeous Phil. I like the shallow DoF, and the composition has an almost landscape feel to it (well, a landscape with a giant fly sitting on a tree in grassland!)

I've been meaning to ask this for a while - what's an 'A327+ BH1' - I'm assuming it's a tripod and head of some sort?

Shallow DOF works for me Phil.
Is it not time that you came to the dark side??

DoF is not a problem. Lovely image.
My 20D just returned from the service centre. They couldn't find anything wrong with one.
Hope yours can be repaired.

Perfectly fine as it is, looks like he's just hanging out chewing gum. Soft colours and great exposure and processing.
