Even more of the Same (minus the colour)
Looks like Sunday was better light than Saturday (at least cloud wise), Erik's post has made me eager to get back up to RMNP again Very soon!.
This is another comp. from Saturday at sun-up. I liked the composition, but the cloudless bright lighting wasn't most favourable, so I wanted to get feedback if this works in B&W?.

Very nice! Like the comp and looks great in BW.

Ansel would be proud! Nice image Nick. We don't see a lot of B&W of RMNP...makes me think I should try for some on my next outing.

I definitely like this in B&W. Nice shot!

Nick,

Looks really good. I think the transition to B&W works great.

One really minor nit I have is the strong contrast between the rocks along the trail and the dark rock on the right border pull my eyes out of the frame.

Steve aka Lurker LOL. Unfortunately that darker rock is attached to an even larger rock, cropping it out IMO would bring Halletts Peak too close to the edge of the frame. It could possibly be cloned, or a little more of the rock shown in the frame. But instead I chose to crop it a little to minimise it's appearance, without having the peak too close to the right.

For those that are interested, here is the Full Frame version.

Nick,

Guess I am not lurking quite as much....

Thanks for explaining. I can better appreciate the burden you have working with such a wide field of view.

Nice comp and conversion Nick. I wish the rocks in the tree reflections stood out a little more.

Thanks Jeff for that idea, I bet with some more PP those rocks could be worked some more!.
