Last weekend I looked up from my computer and saw the woods quickly filling with Amish. A group of about 40 Amish men (full formal attire with black pants and suspenders), women (full length dresses and bonnets), kids (all dressed exactly alike - just like their parents), and babies (all being carried in their momma's arms), got lost and decided to surround our cabin. Many of them were covered with beggar lice. It as quite a sight to see so many of them coming out of the woods. They had hiked to Hawksbill Crag and got lost on the way back - I pointed them in the right direction for their hike back.

Don Kurz tells me this is a Pennsylvania leather-wing bug (on an aster flower in the meadow below our cabin). I figured since all of the Amish folks were speaking Pennsylvania Dutch one of them must have let this bug slip out of his pocket...

I don't know from Amish but this shot would sure look good under a blacklight man. Really great effect Tim!

I guess you can thank the Amish for neat bugs, nice long beards and sturdy rocking chairs. Nice dreamy soft focus...

And don't forget great log cabins! Mine came from northwest Montana - the Amish built it twice - once up there and a second time down here...
