Osprey II
Another osprey shot from the Rogue river. Unfortunately the whites are blown a bit on his neck, but I like the subject and its pose. This was also taken hand held from a jet boat.

Canon 40D 100-400IS @ 400mm; 400 ISO; f/7.1 @ 1/400s

All auto exposure and focus.

Ryan - this is a pretty nice pose and capture. Are you sure the whites were blown so bad that you couldn't recover them in ACR (compositing one or more raw developments)? I might also do a little curves or levels adjustment to bring out a tiny bit more detail in the shadowed side of the head.

Great shot, especially hand held all auto from a jet boat. Maybe crop a little more off the top and right to really make the subject pop.

Geoff, I got as much as I could out of those whites with Recover maxed out and exposer dropped down as far as I dare. Even if I drag exposure down to -3 its bright white in that area, so that's about as good as it's going to get, unfortunately.

Excellent capture. Be sure to post this in Avian.
