Hi,

I'm considering getting a new jacket for the Winter months and was maybe thinking of going for a Deerhunter Montana 5 in 1.
Does anyone have this particular jacket and would you recommend it.
I've read all the technical jargon but was wondering how it performs in the real world. Is it fairly durable and hardwearing?

Thanks.

Its Deer hunting season here at the mo-The shops are full of all types of camo gear-dead cheap as well-The new scent blocker range seems to be the favorite at the moment-have a look at Cabelas website

I have the Montana jacket & i am well pleased with it. Mine has had some pretty hard use & is still going strong. I also have the ram trousers which have withstood me sitting in a flooded spud field in Scotland without getting me bum wet! The trousers are a bit too warm for the summer though.
For the price, i dont think you will get any better.
Regards
Rob.

Justin

Don’t forget import taxes if you order from the states.

If you do look at Cabela’s, take a look at the shipping costs:

1 Surface shipping and handling is 25% of the total order amount or a minimum of $20.00.
Air delivery is 45% of the total order amount or a minimum of $40.00.

2 All orders must be paid in U.S. funds by international money order or by credit card. Exchange rates are automatically calculated on credit card orders.

3 The recipient is responsible for all duties, taxes and Customs fees. Please contact your local Customs office for an estimate of these fees.

I'm sure that to a greater/lesser degree, this is common practice.

The import taxes will not only be levied against the items costs, but also the shipping fees.

I`m going to the Sportsman Gun Centre tomorrow afternoon I`ll see if there any catalogues/leaflets down there as they do the whole range of DH clothing.

I`ll let you know if I can get any.

Dave/ Ray.

Many thanks but I'll probably try and get one here in the UK just to make sure I get the size and everything correct. Great shop that Cabela's is though, wow what a selection.

Tom,

Thanks for your input. I was looking at the Ram today but the Montana wasn't a whole lot more money and I like the idea of being able to remove the deertex lining in case it's too warm.

Rob,

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Alan,

Thanks for the link. That's a good price, my local shop was £157.

Brian,

I've picked up Deerhunter and a Deben catalogue earlier today, but thanks anyway.

No probs, I'll enquire on a price when I get there, if its worth it I give you a call, I can get discount on most things at the shop, and I'm going down there to get a ram jacket myself.

Justin, before you run off spending dough on Deerhunter just try looking at these

http://www.kammo.co.uk/jackets/index.php

I've had a Kammo Kodiak for nine years now and it's brilliant, and worn over either Deerhunter or Laksen salopettes you are totally impervious to anything the sky can throw your way.

I have a couple of Deerhunter stalking jackets and neither are as good quality or as durable and 'silent' as the Kammo.

They are very well thought out bits of kit.

Dearhunter are overpriced IMHO, look at sealand and Hart they have a great range and reasonably priced.

Cheers
