Had a wonderful day in the Twin Lakes and Independence Pass area today... the colors were really popping, and the weather took a turn for the dramatic (as you can see) by afternoon. When I first left this morning, I was worried I'd spend all day working in harsh light. Conditions turned out to be perfect.

I had similiar conditions in RMNP Friday night, and I was loving it. The weather in this scene, especially swirling around the peak really works nicely. The lighting/weather also helps make those yellows stand out even more, I like the way the lines in the comp. lead the eyes to the peak!. My only nit is the white line (road?) snaking across the bottom area, the portion where it meets the aspen draws my eyes to it.

I love weather like this and you've created a beautiful image with it here, Jeff. The road is a minor distraction. Nice work!

The road bugs me, too... I have a vertical comp that makes better use of the road and neighboring stream, but at the expense of a lot of the background. I think I could have gotten the composition exactly how wanted had I walked 100 yards or so my left, but I would have plummeted 700 feet to my death. I need a jet pack.
Anyway, I went with a roadless crop here... I think I like it better.

Aside from the road, this image is a beauty. The roadless pano crop is an improvement. Nice display of the season and weather.

The crop is a winner IMO Jeff!.

Really like the clouds over the mountains. Very dramatic and it really brings out the reds in the mountains.
