Hi All,
This morning in the fog I went up to my site hoping to catch up with four newly arrived Stonechats, the fog was very thick up until about 10am when I finally managed to get some shots of them, also seeing two Whinchat and a Wheatear but not getting close enough! Whilst I sat in the car watching the Stonechats, I was amazed to see this Snipe sitting on the field edge. Not the sort of place I would expect to see one.
All comments welcome
Regards

Very nice indeed.
Great birds. Maybe its the early morninglight but it looks a tiny bit reddish on my monitor. The weed is interesting too - it looks like an introduced crassula/sedum or something which is becoming a pest in some places.
Cheers

Looks to have a pinkish tinge on mine too, which i find extremely difficult to eradicate when the backgrounds are mainly grass.

Nice shot Rob, like the lighting and the comp although I might be tempted to remove a touch off the righthand side, good work.

nicely captured Rob, I like the composition and strong eye contact. I can see a slight reddish tinge, but to my eyes it looks like early morning light.

I rather like the pinkish tint...looks like early morning light, which it was I suppose.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your comments. It is indeed early morning light, that I toned a down a bit because the original file looked to have a very heavy magenta cast, that did not look natural and not how I wanted it to look. I think as it is I have retained the feeling of first light but it is not to heavy to suggest incorrect colours.
A very lucky sighting / capture and well taken. The fact the bird is on a slightly higher piece of ground has helped to isolate the background and highlights the bird nicely.

Wonder full image. I know these birds are difficult to photograph (I succeeded only once).

Serendipity often pays dividends, as it has done here. Excellent.
