Out this morning checking out the fog, nothing working there but on the way stopped by this field of sunflowers. This one monarch wandered by, for breakfast I think. Neither one of us stayed long but it was the best shot of the morning. Spent a nice half hour out with the morning fog and no people so picture is just a bonus.
Olympus 70-300mm 600mm eq 5.6 1/200 ISO 100 handheld so limited DOF, little sharpening and bumped saturation just a bit.

Nice capture, I might try to brighten it up a bit and I would crop it tighter around the monarch.
Mind me asking where this beautiful field is? I've been looking for one to shoot near me and didn't have any luck this year...
You are right Kevin looks darker on this computer than the laptop I usualy post from.I thought about cropping but felt I liked it as is. Not sure where you are but the field is just North of Lomax turn East just North of Honey creek bridge and go 3/4 mile it is on North side of road. It should be several weeks before they harvest.

Good catch, Kendall. Finally found a huge field in west MI a couple weeks ago with sunflowers similar to these.

Beautiful colors, Kendall. I think I might crop a bit from the left and top so the Monarch isn't dead center.
An unusual take on this subject. I find it more interesting that the Monarch is such a small yet integral part of the scene. I'll be the odd one out and vote for no crop (though composing with the butterfly more off center may have been beneficial). Beautiful image.
