Swan Portrait
hi all,

have not been around for a few weeks and so have not posted for a while, other work commitments I'm afraid :frown:

Anyway, managed to get out to my local patch for this weekends sunshine, took this portrait of a swan who was extremely close.

Techs,

Nikon D3 + 300 2.8 + 1.7 TCIE (500mm)
1/800 sec at f5 - 0.3 ev ISO 200
no crop, full frame

as is from camera, just very small touch of sharpening

cheers for looking

Colin

Nice portrait, Colin.
I like the water dropletts or droplets...forgive my spelling, not sure about this one!
Your swan is a bit of a dirty colour...dare I mention it!
The pic might be improved perhaps by making a 'portrait' of it...ie chopping of some of the blue on the left and the right or even a square pic.
If you got it in PS and used the corresponding eyedroppers in Levels or curves and click on darkest, lightest and grey point with the respective droppers you would get a whiter swan.
Hope this suggestion helps but it is only my opinion for what it is worth.

Hi Colin,

Colour looks OK to me. Crop in tighter on both sides to give a portrait crop. There is also a slight halo around parts of the head of the Swan.

Regards

Rob

Yes I agree about the cropping suggestions. I think the colour could be OK - Some individuals look dirty at this time of year.
Cheers

Hi Colin,

The colour looks fine to me! Most swans are dirty looking over here at this time of year (plus all this rain hasn't helped - I have some images of green tainted swan - won't post as people might think I have a green cast! ).

The comp look good to me! If anything a smidge of the left would be good!

A nice full frame portrait!

Colour seems oke to me. As said (most) swans are not really white.
I agree with the halo comments.

Nice picture, but I agree about the cropping suggestions. Colours look ok for me too.
