A little unique find on Saturday while I was out and about. I have no idea at the moment what kind of mushrooms these are, but the color alone drew my attention. Upon a close inspection I noticed a couple of snails on them. This one was just making its way down by the time I took this.

How splendid that you are looking at the tiny vistas in nature. I've not seen a snail of that exquisite a blue before. Well done.

Brad, it's nice to see you getting out there in the field and keeping your eyes open to all possibilities. This is another fine example of the small things most people miss that can be quite interesting photographically.
I know you needed a fast shutter speed to keep this snail in sharp focus but given the supporting elements, I think more dof would have been a nice sacrifice. Did you take any with more dof?

Amazing how nicely the snail lends "action" to the shot! I like it.

Appreciate the comments everyone.
Wayne, unfortunately I was caught up on the snails and kept my aperture wide when I was shooting them. I started looking at the shots on the computer I came to the same realization, more dof would have been real nice on some of these. It's another one of the "learning the hard way" lessons I get to give myself. As long as my mind holds up longer than an Etch a Sketch I should remember this.
I've taken the liberty of adding another "snails included" shot and then one of just the mushrooms shot at f/11 that does add the necessary dof. I really thought they were cool and enjoyed shooting them.
It's a kick in the pants to think one missed an opportunity to get something really neat that you just don't run across everyday, but that's the nature of the photography beast. When you miss one it's a real bummer. But when you get one, it's yours forever!
Thanks for the comments everyone.

Very cool! I like the 3rd shot best, followed closely by the first. I like the "wild" varied pose of the shroom heads in the 3rd shot. The snails were a great find.
You didn't shoot these at Lake Shawnee by chance, did you? I was walking out there last week and saw a patch of shrooms. If that's where you got these, I'll kick myself now for not going back out!! These are great.
