We are going to be heading up towards Berlin or Errol, NH over the Christmas weekend (Thurs-Sunday) and I was wondering a few things: Can someone give me an idea of places to stay in both areas? Are there Moose and wildlife to be seen? We plan on hiking the northern Presidentials 2 days and doing some driving/small hike photography the others. Any guidance of what to see, where to go would be a great help!
I'm looking forward to doing some local New England photography for a vacation.
I am not aware of anyplace particular to stay in Errol or Berlin. I know you will find Gorham has the most rooms available and therefore most likely the best room rates. You might check the web for some of the hunting lodges as some stay open during the winter. Any trail you decide to take up that why should be good depending on the snow fall to that point in the season. If the snow is deep remember to bring your snow shoes!

Thanks Jim,
I'll start checking in the Gorham area, and the snowshoes will be among the first things packed. I have not so fond memories of hiking without snowshoes a few years back and going along just fine until I post-holed half way up Canon Mountain in May and it took 2 people to dig me out. Thanks for the info!

Yes, Gorham is close to where you'll be with fabulous scenery not too far from your front door. See if the Grand View in Randolph is open...it looks into the back of Adams and Madison. Location: near the top of Gorham Hill on Route 2 west.

Thanks Debbie I'll be looking into that. It's open all year round and looks like it's in a good "jump off" spot for us (and we got married in Randolph so it'll be nice to revisit the area)
