Rocky Mountain National Park - Lake Helene area

Hey everyone, it's nice to finally post here after visiting off and on for a couple years. This is one of my favorite photographs from a recent trip to Colorado (for work, but you have to have some fun too!) I was wandering off-trail and following the Siren's call up, up, up the mountain. What a pleasant find at just under 11,000 ft on a darn windy morning. Quite a nice change of pace from the hustle-bustle-humidity of Miami too.

Great colors and comp, Judd. You caught some nice cloud-diffused light on this one, way to be patient!

So that was you I came upon that morning on top of that boulder! I thought about asking you if you were aware of the RMNP forum, but then got into looking for some of that fall color myself. I didn't go any higher than where we met, I'm still trying to get my legs in shape and wanted to make sure I wasn't going to crash before getting back to the trailhead.

Thank you all. Hey Don, yes we did meet up there. I still recall glancing back to face away from the wind and being shocked to see you climbing up over the rock. I think you were equally surprised at what was already on the rock! I went on up to the little lake a bit below the glacier, but some big rocks crashing down the sheer slopes eventually taught me to retreat!

This is beautiful, Judd. Love the vibrant reds and soft light.
