Macro Nutty
Nuthatch at pool
Thought I'd try the pool again but with the Sigma 150 macro instead of the Sigma100-300mm. With it still being dark until the leaves come off I thought the 2.8 aperture would be useful. Although the bird is smaller in the frame, it appears sharper and with the focal length there is more of the bird in focus. It seems woth trying more anyway. Only trouble is that if something big comes in I won't have any zoom!
D200 Sigma 150 mm
80th @f8
800ISO
No camera adjustment.

Another nice one John. I might tone down or remove the yellow leaf on right of picture. We have a pair of these coming to our garen again now so I shall be having a go at them myself. p.s. filter ring is on it's way.

Wow, so detailed and sharp. Colours look great too!

You'll just have to wriggle backwards if something bigger comes along!

Nice work John, nit with that leaf already mentioned.. Otherwise a fine detailed shot and a bird that has always been on my list of wants, must be great to have such biodiversity in ones back garden..!

Kind regards,

Brett.

A lovelyn picture John, the plumage on the bird is superb. The leaf is no problem for me - adds to the naturalness of the composition.

Another fine pool shot John, detail is excellent and the colours are very nice, righthand leaf does draw the eye a little IMO.

Andy...

Thanks all for commenting.
Its the available aperture on the 150mm I like.
Even with a 1.4 its abit faster than the 300 (I think !
Cheers
JR
PS I agree about the leaf.

a nice shot John. I'm a big fan of my Sigma 150mm, it's certainly a sharp lens and, as you say, the max aperture comes in handy.
