The Elk, the Nymph and a Sunset
Not necessarily in that order!. 3 more images from my 2 day shooting in RMNP last weekend. Of course I was once again dished up with a cloudless sunrise, but that's ok.
Image #1: sunset from Moraine Park, 100-400 lens
Image #2: Bull Elk 180 from where I shot sunset
Image #3: Sunrise next morning at Nymph lake

I was wondering what the beetle kill looked like up there. This photo sure answered my question.

Hi George, yes it is pretty bad in spots, especially around Nymph lake, and the trail up to it from bear lake!.

Really liking #1. The red diag combining with the strong contrast with the opening in the clouds move my eye up and down from the peaks.

I like the sharpness of the Elk's head, shoulders and antlers. Not sure if I like the front hoof blur with the elk. Must have been fairly dark and your 100-400 was getting "hungry".

With all that red and green in the nymph image, I'm wondering if nature is following the leads in the stores and is decorating early for the Holidays. Nice capture.

Nice series and a cool theme - I'm almost getting used to rust-colored pine.

#3 is incredible - the light, the depth, the reflection.

Nymph me.

Great light and clouds in #1!

With that title I was looking forward to seeing everything in one picture.

I really like the Nymph Lake composition.

Bill beat me to it. The prospect of seeing anything that a Nymph and Elk might be doing at sunset was really intriguing...

Really liking #3 - great work on the comp; very thoughtfully arranged.
