Friday night a friend and I decided to try shooting Mt Rainier at Sunrise the next morn. We got there early and the moon was probably the coolest I have seen in a while... fingernail slice just over the horizon. He had a 400mm. I didn't. Looking forward to seeing what he got. This shot was much later in the morning. Nikon D300, 17-35 mm, at 17 mm with polarizer and 4 stop nd grad. Approx 3/4 sec ss. I was hoping for more action in the sky with clouds but it was blank. Some fog not here cause it burned off amazingly quick. Ken S

What a great shot Ken, I love the color and light changes. It's been so long since I've been up to Sunrise. It might be time to take a trip up to the "hill"

This probably sounds weird of me to say, but I like that dead tree that is almost centered towards the bottom of the image. It leads you to the water with a nice rich color that leads you up the small stream on the mountain. It's not your everday textbook image of Rainier even though some of those are also very good too.

I love the sense of distance with that bit of mist. Nice job on the contrast and lighting. Makes me want to leave this desk and go rushing up there.
