Hi guys, sorry for my absence the last few months! I have been pursuing bird-photography full time since spring, and with all the hours out there, I simply haven't had the time to follow the forums.
Now weather is getting worse, so I get more PC-time again
Last week we had a few Hobby's migrating through, and I used quite some time with them. Here is a photo of a juvenile just having caught a Dragonfly.
1D MarkIII + 500/4; iso400, 1/2500, f5.6, cropped to 75% for presentation.

Hi Helge,
Thats a very good shot! Caught at the perfect moment, what great timing. Nice colours and good detail. Not a nit but more of a suggestion, if you can give more room top and bottom, so the wings are not so close to the edge of the frame.
Wish you luck if you are now going for it full time, your images are certainly up there with the best of them.
Stunning capture of a bird I've never seen.

hi Helge
I like this shot a lot, great capture of the Hobby feeding on the wing. I have tried for this shot on a number of occasions but have never been as successful as this. One (small) nit is for me it is a little tight in the frame - easy to remedy with the expanse of blue sky for background.
good luck with taking your photography full time
cheers
Colin

Great stuff.
I agree with the cropping- bit more surround might help. No big deal though.

I photographed (by accident and nowhere near as good as this) a hobby catching a swift in mid flight and flying off with it .....
Something I dont think that I will ever see again !
There is one that lives near my home I have seen it several times but never close enough to get a decent shot with my 300 lens :-(

Wow great shot! Beautifully sharp too. I was going to say it is a tad tight for me too, but reading that you've cropped here means it's no problem!!
Well caught!!
PS, well done for taking the plunge and going full time! Good luck, and all the best!

That's you well and truely OFF my Christmas card list
Spent 13 hours last Sunday after this shot; having shown herself in the same place 4 days on the trot she must have decided to go somewhere else for her dragons
I agree it's cropped a bit tight - I was trying to put emphasis on the details in the beak, tongue and dragonfly - which easyly gets lost in 720pixels! I have a print version of it with less crop, and that works very fine.
