OK! With elections right around the corner, we have a topic with a slight “Political” twist.

The topic is “Left and Right” - images that have opposite sides, juxtapositions, or dominant sides. You can interpret the topic anyway you like...or you can just post a picture of your favorite politician out in nature!

I’ll be interested to see what everyone comes up with!

I guess I'll be the first to post into the new topic. This is an image from the Gold Butte Backway in Nevada. While it shows a clear delineation from left to right, it also shows holes in each sides "position" I guess. Somewhat a political interpretation, although I'm really not a political person.

Here's a shot which seems to indicate that those on the left are straight and those on the right are crooked but wield more power! (and, no, I'm not trying to start any flame wars...would have said the same thing if the lightning bolts happened to have been switched).

Try this one, a Monarch and a bee! Two focal points, you just can't beat it!

This is a shot of Kaweah Creek in Sequoia National Park. There is a huge striated boulder running down the hillside into the creek, forming an inverted "V" that dams the creek on the left and forms a cascade on the right.

Some folks lean left, some lean right, others stay in the center. I always thought the political spectrum should be a continuum rather than the polarization we see today.

This image is from the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness.

This pair of wild orchids found in the rain forests of Nicaragua are almost mirror images.

Look at the shiny thing in mind hand.... woooo.... Now vote for me. Treehand for president.

This is cropped out of a 4X5 shot of the harvest scene panel in the Maze District of Canyonlands.

"Good Day / Bad Day"

I rescanned this one 8 days ago, but it just now occurred to me that it could fit in with our monthly theme. This tree (alder?) has found an effective way to shield itself from flash floods.

That's a phenomenal shot, Bill! A clever caption and that could be one of those "Successories" posters.

A literal interpretation of the theme, from Great Sand Dunes.

LOVE those sand dune shots, Rick! :toast:

I once spent dozens of tedious hours creating several stipple-shaded pen and ink patent drawings, and these remind me of that process, but NOT of the tedium!

So, you have the older guy there on the right - really not doing too much. And there's that flashy younger dude on the left, all changing and stuff ...

A shot from my recent fall colors trip.
