Hi all,

I am a new member so most of you will not know me yet but I thought I would seek some advice anyway.

I am heading up to Bradgate Park for the weekend of 24/25/26th Oct to attempt to photograph the red deer before they get to shaggy from the rut. Can anyone offer any advice as to the best spots around the park and the location of the rutting stands?

I am hoping my 80-200 AF-S f2.8 with 1.7 TC will suffice(effective range with D70s crop factor is 500mm ish for sharp shots).

That'll give you 510mm at f4.5/f5 - you AF should work okay though it might be a bit slower than normal.

Hope you get some good shots Ben - remember to keep as wide open as you can to get those nice smooth backgrounds.

Hi Ben,

Not sure if it is still on but there is/was a planned UKNP meet at bradgate on the 11th of Oct.

Lens combo sounds OK, you may find that the 2x is a bit to much at times.

Tom/Danny are the best for locations in the park

Regards

Rob
