Falls at Mallard Lake, Take 2
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Back in August I asked for feedback for some photos I took of a local waterfall. In September I returned to the falls (after much needed rain) and tried out many of the suggestions. Overall, I think the newer photos came out much better, even though I still hit a few snags (e.g. lint on the sensor I didn't see before taking the shot!)

I'm posting one of the re-takes with this post. The rest of the photos can be seen on my nature photo blog: http://www.scenicexplorer.com/2008/10/04/falls-at-mallard-lake/

Feedback on the new photos is certainly welcome! I really appreciate the comments on the earlier photos!

Basically a nice shot but I'm quite distracted by the ghostly human figure at the top. Clone that out and this is a keeper.

I like the shot here and the others as well. If it was mine I would just crop down to above the falls and lose the guy. Nice falls wish it was closer to me.

Good exposure on these falls, Eric. I agree with Kendall regarding the crop...the figure at the top draws the viewer away from the falls.

This is without a doubt, much stronger than your previous posting. In other words, you're making progress with this spot! Kudos for sticking with it. That said, I don't think you've nailed it out of the park yet. The light is nice in this, but I also am not a fan of the blurred person in the frame. I'd personally (read: my approach) recommend to look more closely at some abstract possibilities available within the falls itself. Also, some freshly fallen leaves may offer some additional ideas/compositions. Also think about the bright patches of sky that blow out - if there is a way to minimize them by changing the camera position or time of day (or blending exposures even), it'd probably help. Good luck!

You have the makings of a great shot here. I love the waterfall. As mentioned you should crop the fellow out at the top as well as the sky. You have some sky issues and about the only way to eleminate those is to shoot from a different angle or blend several photos together.

I agree with Joel in that you have some great closup photo opportunities at this waterfall site.

You might mention your camera settings to help in the critique.
