Fuel in western NC?

Anyone from Asheville and west in NC care to comment on the fuel situation out there? I postponed a trip this weekend because the news was saying that many stations in W NC were without fuel.

Would any of you care to comment on the situation? Is it getting better? I need diesel fuel when I am out...the ultra low sulphur type.

I want to go out next weekend, but need to know that I won't have to spend hours looking for fuel while out and about.

Thanks in advance.

We've had some trouble here. I usually have to search several stations in the area before I find one that has fuel. I drove to the NC coast this week for a meeting, and it seems that east of about Statesville, NC is OK, but west of there is hit and miss. I think it's supposed to get better this week. You may want to make some phone calls or check online (if fuel availability info is there) before making the trip.

I don't know where you can double check at before hand but Diesel was the only fuel constantly available during the shortage in my area-Morganton(east of Asheville). We now have the low grade unleaded at the major chain stations but not the higher grades.

I don't know about the situation now, but at the height of the crunch diesel was especially hard to find in Asheville. I'll be out and about over the next few days and will try to check it out.

Hopefully it will improve in the next week or so. I have reservations in Brevard the last week of the month.

Bruce--I'll be there the same week and am watching the situation. The latest reports from AAA and the Citizen Times in Asheville are that the situation is improving daily with the majority of stations having gas. They say they expect it to be back to normal in1-2 weeks but then they said that a month ago too--Larry

I found fuel to not be a problem in Asheville. Most stations had regular unleaded, and a few were without diesel, but I found diesel without much trouble.
