Peaking aspens near CO Springs
In case some of you guys still need an aspen fix but don't want to drive the long haul to SW Colorado, the stage coach road area is looking pretty good right now. Its 39 miles from the Broadmoor to Victor. Lots of red and orange too. If you need directions, let me know. If the winds stay down, it should be good through the week.

Hey Mel, so where is the the stage coach road area? Is it a 4x4 road? I hope things are going a little better for you. Thanks!
John

Stagecoach road can be driven in 2wd with a low clearance vehicle (car) if you are careful. It is somewhat wash boarded and bumpy in spots. All of the spur roads except 376 require high clearance 4WD.

To reach old stagecoach road from the north, take I-25 to Nevada Ave and head south on Nevada (115). When you reach Lake Ave, exit Nevada and head west (right). This will run directly into the front of the Broadmoor Hotel where there is a roundabout. Head south (left) out of the roundabout and follow this road with the golf course on your right. The road will curve to the west and cut through the golf course. You are now on Old Stagecoach road. Continue straight and the road will climb a steep hill, becoming dirt after a short while.

If you are coming from the south, then you can take I-25 to Circle Drive and head west. Circle becomes Lake as you head west.

I like your comp here a lot. Nice colors, and just enough darkness in the cloud to add a little mood.

Your aspens look very vibrant, Mel. I love when they are mixed with pine trees. Nice area to explore, I am sure.

Thanks for the tip Mel. I saw this post last night and decided to drive down from Denver this morning. This shot is just an unedited jpeg.
