Toying with the idea....

of going to the Tetons the last week of October. I suppose it will be too late for any fall color. Might catch some snow. What conditions can I expect photo wise? Thanks!

I haven't been at that time of year, but this would be my guess. The aspen leaves will be gone as would the willows and everything else. The mountains will certainly have received some snow. The water temps should be a fair bit warmer than the air temps in the mornings, so you should have some opportunities to catch fog on the water if a cold snap comes through. And otherwise, it just comes down to the weather.

We were there in late Sept/early Oct last year and there was some fall color left but seemed past peak in most areas. Definitely had some snow on them as seen in this image I took:

John, if you are driving to California from Colorado, then during the last week in October you should be able to hit Zion during the fall color peak. Might be something to consider as an alternative.

John, i might be headed there in early November. The roads close Nov 1st and im hoping for lots of snow!

Stan, if you decide to head to Zion, let me know. I plan to be there last week of Oct through first week in Nov.

Stan, Bill I am planning GT the last week of October likely 10/24 through 10/29 or 30th or maybe longer if like the conditions. I will be car camping in my motel Pathfinder most of the time unless it gets brutal cold at night. In that case I might go to Yellowstone and cozy up to a geyser Maybe we can hook up somewhere at some point. I will put a NPN sign on my windows. Shoot me an email for my cell and other particulars.

Then again I have not been to ZION yet. Always driving by it heading to CA.
