A few weeks ago, a tiny hover fly on a dandelion attracted my attention. A colourful scene and imo worthwhile photographing it.

Nikon D80, Sigma 150 mm F 2.8, iso 200, 1/60 sec, F9 on tripod.

Good insect shot. The dark area below the fly grabs my eye a bit.
Love the twirly stigmas too.
Cheers

Very nice indeed Sandra. I agree with Johns comment about the dark patch below the fly but a minor nit.

Very nice colourful image Sandra and you managed that old fly nice and sharp. :toast:
The dark area as mentioned is probably not what draws the eye rather than that of your name. If that was positioned in the top right dont think it would catch the eye. It may only be MO but I always positon my symbol in each corner just to see where it works best and also vary the intensity of it as well. Hope you dont mind me pointing this out.

Major.

A nicely composed, bright and vibrant image. :toast:

a simple but effective composition. It works well.

Like this too Sandra, the hoverfly is nice and crisp.

Agree with Major's comments - I also experiment and usually use the colour selector to pick a colour from the individual image for the 'tag'. You can do this by saving your tag as a custom brush (also makes it very easy to vary the size too)

Thanks everyone

@ Major & Magnus:
Thank you both very much for the suggestion and explanation. I will try it out.
